Netherlands vs Russia

Russia Beats Neverlands 3-1 in overtime
Russia coach Guus Hiddink believes attack will be the best form of defence against Holland in tonight's Euro 2008 quarter-final in Basle. The Dutch produced an attacking masterclass in the group stages, but Hiddink believes the first fortnight of the championships has shown that being negative will get you nowhere in the modern game.

WOW! Croatia Is Out!

I just watched an amazing game!!!!!

Croatia vs: Turkey!

Let me tell you what I saw:
end of game 0-0
over time 0-0 until the 1:18th minute where Croatia gets a goal!!!!!!
So now you are in stopage time, 1-0 and Turkey turns around to get a goal!
Penalty Shoot Out Time
Turkey has made all of the goals and Croatia made 1 of 3 goals!!!!

It's penalties in Vienna after one of the most amazing minutes in football history. First Ivan Klasnic looked to have profitted from some kamikaze keeping from Rustu Recber. Then, with the very last kick of the 120 minutes, Semih crashed home a deflected shot after a long hoik by who else but Rustu.

Next up tomorrow Russia plays Netherlands who are in 1st place in Group C
This game will be on ABC

Germany blitz into semi-finals!

Germany beat Portugal 3-2 in Basle to reach the semi-finals of Euro 2008. A flowing German move saw the recalled Bastian Schweinsteiger poke home for the first, before Bayern team-mate Miroslav Klose netted with a header five minutes later. Nuno Gomes gave Portugal a ray of hope, but captain Michael Ballack headed the third. Sub Helder Postiga made the final few minutes interesting, but to no avail.

Next Match: Croatia vs: Turkey!!

Euro

Plans set to nullify Ronaldo
Germany hope their plan to neutralise Cristiano Ronaldo when they take on Portugal in today's quarter-final in Basle does not backfire. Joachim Low's side, who have progressed to the last eight of the European Championships for the first time since 1996, know their chances of reaching the semi-finals depend on whether they can stop the Manchester United winger.

Dutch dreaming of destiny
Two weeks ago few Holland fans would have dared dream it possible to win the 'Group of Death' so handsomely by beating both Italy and France, indeed cynicism about the chances of the Netherlands 'Elftal' was all around.
Marco Van Basten is proving all his critics wrong.
Some wondered how much authority Oranje coach Marco van Basten would have over the squad when he was soon due to depart for Ajax.
This theory was given credence by star striker Ruud van Nistelrooy who in a pre-tournament interview criticised Van Basten's methods, while many fans and journalists were deeply unhappy with the manager's decision to scrap the time-honoured 4-3-3 system with flying wingers for what seemed to be a more defensive 4-2-3-1.
How can we be successful in Switzerland and Austria, complained the traditionalists, if we play a game alien to our nature?

Les Bleus on the scrap heap

Italy and France are heavyweights more used to slugging it out for the ultimate glory on the biggest stage - the 2006 World Cup final and the finale of Euro 2000 for instance - not battling to avoid the scrap heap in the group stages of a competition that they were amongst the favourites to win.
The Italian bench erupt in joy at the final whistle as a crestfallen French player lies on the turf.
But that was the situation the world champions and their perennial challengers found themselves in during their final Group C match at Zurich's Letzigrund stadium on Tuesday evening. Their destiny out of their own hands and in those of the Dutch, who needed to get a result against Romania.
It seemed that the advancing years had finally caught up with the tournament's oldest teams.
Both the Azzurri and Les Blues have, in the main, stuck with experience, whilst other teams have evolved: the most obvious example being Marco van Basten's irrepressible Holland who hit seven goals past this stumbling duo.
At least one of these much vaunted sides, who only two years ago contested the World Cup final, would be sent home to face vigorous criticism. With huge reputations at stake this was a must see game.
Tickets for the match were in huge demand and with only 31,000 places available inside the stadium the streets outside were lined with hopeful fans pleading for tickets. So much so that one Swiss parent, upon being asked to part with his, pointed to his young son and said: 'And disappoint him? Not for any money!'
Maybe if he was following France he now wishes he had cashed in his slip of paper and spared himself the torture of watching Les Blues slide out of this tournament with a pitiful record of a single goal scored and six conceded.
Before the match the president of the French Football Federation claimed he would back coach Raymond Domenech until World Cup 2010 no matter what happened, but there is much rebuilding to do before then.

Some David Beckham

Here is his new Sharpie Commercial:

Guess who is now considered "Laker's Biggest Fan"

Although the commentators made a big (possibly too big) deal over an injury Becks picked up early in the game when he slipped and appeared to strain his hamstring, David was not subbed at halftime, and in fact played through without much appearance of pain or limited range of motion. There were times when he looked a little tender, but in the post-match interview he told them it was just feeling tight.

New Blog Post!
Wensday, June 18th 2008

Hi everyone,

It was great to look at the league table after Saturday's game against the San Jose Earthquakes and see the Galaxy at the top of the Western Conference. We have a game in hand over Houston Dynamo, so we'll definitely want the three points in that match to cement our position at the top.
Obviously, everyone was really pleased to get another win away from home. We are a good team but we just have to make sure we stay focused over the course of the season, because if we do that we have an excellent chance of reaching the playoffs.
Once the guys who are away on international duty return, we'll be back to full strength, but with the likes of Landon Donovan away, it has given a chance to Edson Buddle to make a name for himself and he deserves full credit for grabbing the chance. Against the Earthquakes he scored his second hat trick of the season, which is a great achievement. He's a very good player and getting better with every game.
Columbus Crew are next on Saturday and we look forward to that game as we do any other.

Take care,
David

Other News(LOOK AT THE POST UNDER THIS ONE FIRST!)

Fernando Torres and David Villa will be restricted to the training field until the weekend

Ronaldinho might switch clubs?
Small pic. right?
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has admitted the club cannot compete financially with Manchester City in the race to sign Ronaldinho.

Galliani said Milan and other Italian clubs are being squeezed out of several transfer moves as clubs in England, Spain and Germany have more money to spend.

'I cannot ignore that Italian football is now in fourth position in Europe behind England, Spain and Germany,' he said in Gazzetta dello Sport.

'We simply cannot compete with certain figures anymore.

'Manchester City have offered the Brazilian (Ronaldinho) 12 million euros (£9.5million) a year. We can only compete with that if they (Barcelona) give him away for free.

Sorry that I'm posting this so late but who cares cuz no one even likes this blog.....They don't care soccer scores. I'm probbably the only person that cares about this....if you think that your nice enough to actually leave a comment saying that i shouldn't care what other people think you would be a GOOD friend.

Scores!

Andrei Arshavin returned from suspension to earn Russia a place in the quarter-finals of Euro 2008 with victory over Sweden in Innsbruck.

Russia celebrate Pavlyuchenko's second goal.
Sweden only needed a point themselves but had no answer to the Zenit St Petersburg playmaker, with Dutchman Guus Hiddink now set to face Holland on Saturday after guiding Russia out of Group D.

Roman Pavlyuchenko opened the scoring at Stadion Tivoli Neu before Arshavin sealed the win Russia required after the break.

Since starting to compete as Russia, in 1992, it is the first time they have been out of the group stages of a major tournament.

A banner among the Russia fans read "Home Swede Home - Goodbye Sweden'', and Hiddink's men set off looking like they wanted victory wrapped up by half-time.

This was the type of attacking performance that saw England gripped by panic at the Luzhniki Stadium last October when the cracks of Steve McClaren's reign started to open up.

IN EASIER WORDS:

Russia booked a place in the last eight of Euro 2008 after a convincing 2-0 win over Sweden. Goals either side of half time from Roman Pavlyuchenko and Andrei Arshavin set up a mouth-watering quarter final clash with Holland, coach Guus Hiddink's home nation. Meanwhile, Spain made it three wins out of three after a late Daniel Guiza goal gave them a 2-1 win over a rejuvenated Greek side

If YOUR SAYING WHAT THE HECK? IN YOUR HEAD...LOOK HERE
also if you are uncordinated look here

Russia beat Sweeden 2-0
Spain beat Greece 2-1

SPAIN!!!!!!!!
Everything was fine here last night until 10.40 Spanish time, when the refs blew their whistles in Bern and Zurich prompting Romania (oh, and France too) to droop off their respective pitches and pack their bags for tomorrow's journey home.

Daniel Guiza will get his chance today

Spain's little stroll in Salzburg on Wednesday continues to be a pleasant stress-free break from the pressures of qualification and from the rivalry of a team who need to win (Greece, of course, are already down and out), but now the shadow of the Italians looms high above the Wals-Siezenheim Stadion. Cue pictures of Luis Enrique's bloody nose in the quarter-finals stage in the USA, 1994, cue the usual national neurosis at times like these. The Spanish camp had been making neutral noises about how there were no easy games and how they were unconcerned as to whom they would face in the quarter-finals, but now that it's not Romania you can feel the vibe beginning to turn.

But that's not the preview, for the time being. Spain play Greece in the final round of the Group D matches in a dead-rubber game whose main interest lies in how the group leader's reserve side will fare against a side who will at least wish to bow out with some dignity. Well, that's what the press are saying about Greece. Whether their players can be bothered to put up a fight against Spain remains an open question.

Scores

Croatia beat Poland 1-0
Poland needed that win much more than Croatia so Poland is almost out of luck.
And Germany beat Austria also 1-0

Here is an outine of the Germany Game

Germany disposed of a plucky but ultimately toothless Austria side to book a quarter final clash with Portugal. A stunning Michael Ballack free-kick settled the game as Austria failed to create any clear cut chances. Germany will have to improve if they are to topple Portugal. Meanwhile, Croatia beat Poland 1-0, thanks to Ivan Klasnic.

ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!?!

Turkey just won!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
vs the Czech Republic!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Ok... Czech was winning 2-0 and then it became 2-1 and 2-2
IT WAS ABOUT TO GO DOWN TO PENALTIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THEN CZECH GOT A GOAL IN LIKE THE 99TH MIN.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
arg that makes me mad!!!!!!!!!!!! i wanted to watch a penalty shootout

Turkey will face Croatia in the quarter-finals of Euro 2008 after a stunning 3-2 victory over the Czech Republic. The Turks trailed 2-0 with 15 minutes to go before Arda Turan pulled one back. Nihat Kahveci levelled on 87 and just when it seemed penalties were a certainty he produced a stunning winner in the last minute. Turkey then had goalkeeper Volkan Demirel sent off meaning Tuncay went in goal but they held on for a famous win.

More Euro 08

Poland vs. Austria

Referee Howard Webb admits he made a key mistake in the Euro 2008 clash between Poland and Austria - but that the decision to award a controversial late penalty against the Poles was absolutely right. Webb has been the subject of a hate campaign from Polish fans after he gave a spot-kick for shirt-pulling which veteran Austria striker Ivica Vastic converted for a 1-1 draw, but stands by that decision.

Right Now....Euro 1st Placers

Group A- Portugal
Group B- Croatia
Group C- Netherlands (Italy is in last!!)
Group D- Spain

Greese is out :'(

It couldn't work again now could it? Greece won Euro 2004 through a mix of grit, brio and sheer athleticism and the inability of their opponents to find an answer to an approach which suffered from such a severe lack of aesthetic that Otto Rehhagel's men are forgotten champions just four years on.

In Salzburg, it was even more difficult to think of Greece as defending European champions. Their non-qualification for the 2006 World Cup in Germany had given rise to the idea that victory in Portugal was a fluke; this loss to an ageing and nervous Sweden team gives considerable weight to that theory.
Rehhagel, a man who has the freedom of 'Hellas' after masterminding them to a title that ranks alongside Denmark's win in 1992 as shock of shocks in the European Championship, still had it all to prove in sending his team out in Salzburg.
In the city that gave Mozart to the world, few could expect Greece to play the sweet music that Portugal and the Dutch had demonstrated in their opening matches. And Rehhagel, a man not given to bowing to the conventions of modern-day total football, rigidly stuck to the approach that has made him successful as an international coach with his adopted country. Far more Salieiri than Wolfgang Amadeus, the near-seventy-year-old is hardly going to change his pragmatic approach now.

Frankie Hejduk

It's no secret that the 33-year-old Frankie Hejduk has long been considered one of the fittest guys ever to play for the U.S. men's national team. But lately Hejduk has been taking it to another level. After playing 90 minutes for the Crew against San Jose in Columbus on June 7, less than 24 hours later at Giants stadium, Hejduk came on as a late sub vs. Argentina. As Hejduk prepared to step on the field for his 78th appearance, I asked him, "Do you ever get tired?" In his classic Southern California speakeasy Hejduk said, "No. No man. Never. Never!" It's safe to say, Frankie has plenty left in his tank.

David Beckham Updates

Capello names Beckham England captain
David Beckham was designated as captain for England's game against Trinidad and Tobago on Sunday, an honor for the midfielder whose international career appeared over after the World Cup.
This will be the first time Beckham has captained the team while playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy. Fabio Capello announced the move Saturday and has now chosen four different captains in his four games since becoming coach. The exhibition game Sunday will be Beckham's 102nd appearance for England.
A permanent captain will not be appointed until England's 2010 World Cup qualifiers in September against Andorra and Croatia. Capello said Beckham is a candidate.
"Never say never," the coach said. "This is a new moment for the England team."
Capello's other three captains were Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand and John Terry. Terry wore the armband for Wednesday's 2-0 victory over the United States at Wembley, where Beckham played the first half.

Capello thinks about putting Beckham in 2010 World Cup
English coach Fabio Capello believes David Beckham could play again for his country at the 2010 World Cup.

Capello said the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder could be called up for the tournament in South Africa, if he maintains his fitness. Beckham would be 35 by then.

"The door is open. He played the last game, and did well against France," Capello was quoted as saying by sports newspaper Marca on Friday. "It depends. There are players who at 33 or 34 take good care of themselves, they understand that the body is not as it was and they take more care. It depends a lot on that."

Beckham made his 100th international appearance in a 1-0 exhibition loss to France last month. Capello said he regularly travels to the United States to keep an eye on the former Manchester United player.

Beckham helped guide Real Madrid to a record 30th Spanish league trophy last year under Capello. But Capello isn't looking ahead to the World Cup just yet after England failed to qualify for this summer's European championships.

"I think we have a good team, but we have to work a little so that everyone understands what I want," Capello said. "We are not thinking about that [the World Cup] at the moment, we have to go step by step."

Euro!!!!

Bring on Germany, and Switzerland also
2 Games, 2 Wins - Check
Group winners - Check

This one was somewhat nervy, Portugal went ahead early via a rather fortunate goal by Deco, then the Czechs drew level(deservedly) and managed to control the game until half-time, based on solid defensive positioning and fast runs when in possession. Portugal had the ball, had a few shoots but nothing very inspiring. We had much trouble getting set in the last third of the pitch, even tough Deco played another great game.

In the second-half the game didn't change much, Portugal with more of the ball, the Czech Republic always dangerous in counter attacks and especially with long balls, with the Portuguese defense showing some trouble dealing with them and a few marking holes appearing.

After some semi-dangerous attempts by your opponents the go ahead goal came.great pass by Deco and Ronaldo finally showing up with a great run and a shoot that Peter Cech had no chance to stop.

I know France lost yesterday 4-1 but I'm not sure against who. It was an enteresting game.

And Now some insides:

Jorge Flores might be the only reality-show winner in the world to claim that avenue as a path to a professional soccer career. Though it went under the radar of many because the program was a Spanish language production, "Sueno MLS" was a show that tested out around 2,000 hopefuls in rounds of trials before declaring Flores the winner in 2007, the inaugural year of the competition. They awarded him a youth contract and later upgraded that to a roster spot on the MLS team that hosted the event, Chivas USA.

After a disappointing showing against England, and a better but still not complete effort in a loss to Spain, the United States had one more chance to show its fans that it could stand toe-to-toe with a world power.

The Americans did just that on Sunday, riding a heroic effort from Tim Howard to battle Argentina, the No. 1 team in the world, to a scoreless tie in front of 78,682 at Giants Stadium.

Argentina did what it is known for early on, creating countless chances with its speedy and unpredictable attack, but the U.S. defense held firm as Howard came through with a series of jaw-dropping stops to give his team the confidence it needed to deliver its first complete performance of the recent friendlies.

Scores for Euro:
Italy 1-1 Rome

Dirk Kuyt celebrate his early header against the French

Holland are on course to book their place in the quarter-finals as winners of Group C as they lead France 1-0 in Berne. Dirk Kuyt scored the only goal of the first half after nine minutes, heading home a Gio van Bronckhorst corner. The Dutch have been very much on top but for a brief spell for France. Earlier, Gianluigi Buffon saved a late Adrian Mutu penalty to earn world champions Italy a 1-1 draw with Romania.

HERE!!!

My friends say that I should make a new topic so now MY BLOG SHOULD BE ABOUT SOCCER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOT DAVID BECKHAM

BUT SOCCER IN GENERAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Academy

Here is some stuff about the academy;

The David Beckham Academy was established to give young, aspiring athletes, the chance to develop their skills, learn about teamwork, healthy living and above all understand the importance of having fun every time they step on the pitch.

The academy is open to players of all ability levels, age 8-15 where they will learn and perform the same drills that David did as a youth player. Each player will be put through a variety of assessments to examine their strengths and weaknesses. The coaching staff will then devise a plan to improve each player’s game.

David Beckham was fortunate enough to attend a soccer school, which helped him realise his dream to play professional football. The David Beckham Academy was established to engage youngsters through the sport of football and to encourage them to fulfil their own potential whether on or off the pitch.

and another biography:
The Los Angeles Academy is based at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, on the campus of California State University, Dominguez Hills, which is a $150 million multi-sport facility built on 125 acres of land. It is also the home of two Major League Soccer (MLS) teams, The Los Angeles Galaxy and CD Chivas USA.

Use the links on the left-hand side to learn why David wanted to make the Academy a reality and explore the incredible venue. You can also read about the staff and find out what you would do at a day at the Academy.

David's New Blog Post

On Wensday the 11'th David made a post on his blog: davidbeckham.com

here it is:

Hi everyone,

It was good to get back to the MLS and get a win against Colorado Rapids in my first game since returning from England duty. I felt after the thrashing they gave us in the first game of the season we had something to prove and in the first half we played some brilliant soccer. At 3-0 up just after half time we were cruising and maybe we got complacent and let them back into the game, but we managed to hang on and win, which is a testament to the team and the winning spirit that Ruud Gullit and the coaching staff have brought to the club.
It’s great to look at the table and see us sitting at the top. The Western Conference is very tight though, so we need to make sure that we’re focused on trying to win every game from now on, starting with San Jose Earthquakes this Saturday.

I was a guest on a Jimmy Kimmel special called Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night, which was on just before the LA Lakers v Boston Celtics NBA finals. It was great fun and, of course, as a Lakers fan I was pleased to see them win.

That’s all for now.

Take care,

David

Sorry...

Sorry I haven't been making posts about the games....I have been at a soccer camp for the last two weeks and haven't been on the computer much.

So tommorow(saturday) Galaxy will be playing San Jose Earth Quakes!!!! They will be competeing against former player Joe Cannon (golie) so this will be like a round to see if Cannon is better than Croinion wich he kind of is because he has more experience.

10:00 pm EST at Santa Clara University's Buck Shaw Stadium.(San Jose)

Haha

During the Rapids game.......one of the fans came on the feild to 5 five becks!!!! it stoped the game. no one really knew what was going on so cris klien Decided to tackle him (i guess) to make sure that he wouldn't do anything to hurt becks.

And here is what David has to say about when the guy came on the feild to hive five him:

Beckham admits he was a little wary when the fan disrupted the Galaxy game against Colorado Rapids and ran towards him.

He says: "He didn't have a smile on his face and he didn't have a Galaxy shirt on, so I didn't know if he was going to come and give me a hug or something else.

"These things happen in games all over the world. Luckily, he just wanted to give me a high five and that was the end of it."

Ok.....I have a video of the tackle (i guess)

FOR YOUR SAKE AND WATCHING THE ENTIRE VIDEO:go to IT STARTS 3:36 to watch the tackle instead of the entire video

Other news:
The Beckham family takes a visit to Disney Land!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Basketball Injury
Yes, another injury...thankfully this one won't affect his ability to play!

DAVID BECKHAM is nursing an embarrassing injury - after his efforts to become a better basketball player backfired.
The soccer stud-turned-model and his eldest two sons have become big fans of the Los Angeles Lakers as the basketball team fight for the NBA title in America.
And Beckham has even become close friends with Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant.
But his efforts to dunk it like Bryant have left him with a nasty cut on his nose.
He explains, "I was playing basketball with my eldest son (and he) threw the ball at the net and it bounced off the ring and smacked me in the face."
